We are committed to improving wellness for every digitalist.
One of the main principles of the wellness community is that if you improve yourself, you improve society. Focusing on self-improvement can make a big difference in our lives and the life of those around us.
Similarly, digitalists are dedicated to creating tools that serve others and are generally committed to freedom and entrepreneurship.
We strongly believe these principles are integral to succeeding in life in the 21st Century. That is why we have dedicated to nurturing a strong relationship between the digital world and wellness.
If you want to learn about this discipline from a true biohacker you can check out the interview with Lauren Alexander below. She is a part of Neurohacker, one of the leading companies in the biohacking space.
Biohacking is for every age group.
Biohacking is a term that is becoming increasingly used to describe any type of life modification. Most commonly it refers to the use of technologies in the service of extending our consciousness. While this can be a topic for another article, my purpose here is to introduce some of the common themes of biohacking from the perspective of people of any age.
Biohacking can be defined as the practice of modifying the body in order to enhance or extend its functions or capabilities for better health, enhanced well-being, enhanced quality of life, or for purposes other than cure of disease. I’m not going to give an extensive bioethics review of biohacking, but the short version is: it can be seen as either an ethical practice or a form of harm reduction. Ethical biohackers think that we are, in fact, all already biohacking each other without even knowing it. One day, we could find ourselves high-tech, embedded in our machines.
At the individual level, biohacking can be performed for self-improvement, exploration, education, a curious interest in learning more about the world, or more of a desire to live in the moment.
Biohackers usually share several common themes:
- Personal milestones and adventures
- Personal growth
- Development
- Reinventing yourself
- Learning new skills or reaching out to more diverse experiences
- Experimental subjects with a specific interest (e.g., clean living, restorative nutrition, mindful meditation, and so on)
- Ethical issues
There are many exciting relations between the evolution of wellness and the digital era
Innovation on the web has continued to touch a number of fields that previously existed outside of the internet, including healthcare and mental health.
This has partly been driven by the emergence of mobile platforms as an alternative to traditional landline or satellite based internet connections.
E-Health has gradually become a more significant branch of healthcare.
We’ve referenced several tools for personal health monitoring.
The wellness paradigm has permeated an essential part of Silicon Valley and other tech hubs
A particularly interesting aspect of wellness and digital technology is how they intersect. Innovation on the web has continued to touch a number of fields that previously existed outside of the internet, including healthcare and mental health.
This has partly been driven by the emergence of mobile platforms as an alternative to traditional landline or satellite based internet connections.
- E-Health has gradually become a more significant branch of healthcare.
- Mobile technology has provided a means to improve wellness, and many such companies have emerged.
- Human, as well as technological innovation, has a role to play in the field of wellness.
- Recent work in human health is being driven by development in virtual reality.
- The importance of data science in wellness research is increasing.
- Personalised, predictive and personalized medicine is the latest breakthrough in the field of personal health management.
- New topics include stress management, the understanding of human resilience and self care.
The convergence between digital health and personal wellness can only lead to good things for those involved and for society in general. It will benefit those who are active on the web in several ways, as well as those who do not.
For example, individuals who are lonely or isolated through various life circumstances or personal circumstances can be better supported if they are also given access to digital wellness initiatives.
Similarly, access to healthy and affordable food could be improved if communities were given access to the same resources. As individuals become more active online, more communities will benefit.
The innovation within digital technology and its focus on personalization and prediction is already having an effect in many fields.
